The Hearing Clinic chose, in connection with its move to a new wing of the hospital, to upgrade its facilities with specially designed audiometry booths adapted to the department’s needs. In this process, it was important to engage a supplier with experience in audiometry rooms and ISO standards related to hearing assessments.
”For us, it was important to choose someone with extensive experience from similar projects in Denmark, so that our new audiometry rooms would function according to Danish conditions and requirements, and that they were receptive to input and needs from our side,” says Marianne Greve, Head Nurse at the Hearing Clinic.

As the new area allocated to the Hearing Clinic was smaller than the previous facilities, the design of the audiometry rooms had to be rethought to ensure that all hearing examinations could be carried out and meet the required quality standards. IAC Acoustics was involved throughout the project from the early design phase and needs analysis to the final implementation and delivery of the audiometry booths.
”IAC were very good at using their previous experience, identifying possibilities despite the limitations, and providing input that we had not always considered ourselves. They were creative in utilising the premises and optimising the environment for both staff and patients.
The collaboration worked well between the Technical Department at Hospital of Southern Jutland and IAC Acoustics. We could be confident that all requirements were met and that everything stayed within the agreed timeline.”

With the new audiometry rooms, the quality of measurements is ensured down to the smallest detail, so that, for example, noise from the corridor does not disturb or compromise the test results. This is important both for the staff, who can rely on the measurements, and for the patients.
”If we carry out an examination with background noise and misinterpret the hearing loss based on this data, the user will receive the wrong hearing aid. That means wasted tax money on a hearing aid that will not be used - and even worse, the patient does not receive the help they need.
We were very pleased that we chose to upgrade our equipment with guidance from IAC Acoustics. The existing audiometry rooms were more than 10 years old, and there has been significant development over these past 10 years, which we have been able to benefit from,” concludes Marianne Greve.
